The Fool
He sits there,
Wondering what had happened,
His heart cut to the quick.
Stunned, amazed at what he saw.
He is still the outsider, looking in.
His hopes and dreams
Now lay shattered,
He listened to their talk,
Of love, and friendship, and care,
But in reality, he is still alone.
They shut him out, ignored him,
All he wanted to do was help.
He gave the best he had,
Of his heart, soul and life,
But to them, he wasn't there.
He now realizes in his heart,
How great the fool he was.
His hopes and dreams, now useless,
Of learning, and the desire to be healed,
And loved, and to love, with what he had.
Perhaps that was the lesson after all,
That no one really wants you,
Do not disturb our friendships,
We have no need of you fool,
Go away, go outside, and go on.
